Frontiers are essential.

In Star Trek, there have been many frontiers-- boundaries of technology, the Gamma and Delta Quadrants, socioethical issues, and alternate dimensions, just to name a few. There is still one place, however, that has not yet been explored: the Andromeda Galaxy.

The Federation has finally attained instantaneous travel. Utilizing technology brokered by treaty with the Zeralen Empire, the first interstellar Gate has been contructed, and an expedition has arrived at a solar system on the edge of the Andromeda Galaxy. Its mission is to explore this vast new territory, making political alliances and colonizing worlds as it goes.

Play consists of one-hour weekly simulations via AIM chat rooms. Imagination, diligence, and social intuition are emphasized. Spacestation Andromeda I launched on December 5th, 2004. It currently meets on Sundays at 9pm Eastern Time. The USS Kipling launched on August 11th, 2006, and it meets on Fridays at 10pm Eastern.
